Endings and New Beginnings

Yesterday was awesome. At least most of it, that is. Not much happened in the morning, then around lunchtime Melissa called and asked if I wanted to hang out with her and Josh at the mall. He had to buy clothes apparently. I said sure, because it was better than being bored at home (that’s always my reason, but that’s because I’m always bored at home, I suppose). They picked me up, and we headed over to the mall to get clothes for him. I won’t bore you all with the details, but mainly it was Melissa that picked out the clothes for him, and then he bought them. It was fun, though, I guess, mainly because I got to make fun of both of them. After about an hour, they dropped me back off at home, and that was that. Of course, Josh didn’t know what was going on tonight.

I haven’t mentioned anything about the plans for last night in my blog here just in case Josh or Zeth reads this. I don’t think either of them do, but I decided to be careful just the same. You see, I’ve been hanging out a lot with Steph and Kristy and driving them around places. Why? Well, for the past couple of weeks, they’ve been planning a going-away party for Josh and Zeth. And last night was the night it all came together. It was a surprise party, so I made sure not to mention anything – just because…Continue Reading

Work and, um, Wednesday

Well, I’ve missed two days this time. It completely slipped my mind on Tuesday, mainly because I had absolutely nothing to write about. Nothing interesting happened the night before, and since I was working from 5:45 PM – 12:00 midnight, I couldn’t exactly write anything then. Yesterday I slept in until about 10:30, then got occupied and forgot completely about blogging. Meh. I’ll just quickly talk about the past three days – it shouldn’t take too long. I’ll try and keep it short.

First off, Tuesday night was interesting. Seeing as it was my first shift at Cineplex, I was a little nervous. It was mainly because I barely knew what to do, so I really had no idea what to prepare for. It didn’t turn out to be too bad. Nikki was there showing me what to do for most of the night, and as the night went on it got easier as I found out that my job was fairly routine and monotonous. Basically, I rip tickets before the movies start. And as they start, I have to go around and close the doors and such. Once the movies are in, I basically check all of them every half hour, along with the bathrooms and arcade room. It’s a little hectic when the movies are starting, but once that’s over, there’s suddenly nothing to do really. Then, as the movies get out and people leave, I start cleaning. Then the whole process gets repeated once more just for…Continue Reading

Birthdays, Beaches, and Bowling

Yesterday was the birthday party for Melissa. It was a lot of fun, starting off with a trip to Long Point and then getting into some other stuff that I’ll talk about later. But let me begin with the beach, since, well, it’s the first thing that happened. I’m still getting ahead of myself, though, so let me slow down and start from the beginning.

I woke up yesterday at 8:00 AM. My parents had already left for the day, and they had taken both cars – but I already knew they were going to do that. I showered and got dressed, packed my bag for the beach, and then put my earbuds in my ear, turned on my music, and cranked the volume. This was partly because I was in a good mood, but also partly because I was trying to keep myself awake. Then with that, I headed out the door and walked over to the Staats’ house. I debated wearing my shoes to walk over there, but then I decided that it would be too much of a hassle to bring both shoes and sandals. I bring this up because it’s important – my sandals give me blisters, but I decided I’d wear socks with my sandals and hope for the best. It didn’t work too well; even on the ten-minute walk over to their house, I got blisters.

Anyways, I got to the Staats’ house and hung around there for a few minutes until people were…Continue Reading

Situations and Sendoffs

A few days ago I mentioned a situation I was dealing with, that I really hoped wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, today came the evidence that really strongly points in this person’s direction. And now I’m sitting here feeling helpless, wondering what to do. Do I approach this person and try to help them through their problem, knowing full well that if I reveal it, it could potentially damage some relationships? Or do I leave it alone and hope that God will work through the situation and help this person by Himself?

I honestly have no idea what to do. I really don’t think I could approach this person and point out what they’ve done. But I also know that I can’t just sit here and do nothing while it continues. I’m trapped between not being able to do anything, and knowing I have to anyways, and right now it’s really bothering me. The only thing that I’m not powerless to do is pray for them – pray that God would work in the situation and heal it. But it doesn’t seem like it’s enough, though I’ve always been told about the “power of prayer.” Somehow it just doesn’t absolve me of responsibility, although the only reason this responsibility was thrust on me was because I was in the position to find out about it. Suddenly there’s a huge weight on my shoulders to do something about a situation that I found out about just recently, and the reason it’s my…Continue Reading

Parties and Pictures (and Percy)

Well, let me just tell you a bit about last night. I headed over to Erica’s house with two hamburger patties in a freezer bag. Everyone was supposed to bring their own meat for a barbecue. I was the first one there, and since Erica apparently doesn’t know how to barbecue, I got the job. I must say, my hamburgers were amazing. They were some of the best ones I’ve ever tasted – and that’s saying a lot, considering I am a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to hamburgers.

Anyways, it was a pretty fun night. When everyone had showed up, we basically sat around and ate, or jumped on the trampoline, or played a bit of soccer in their backyard. I mostly just did the first thing – sat around and ate, plus talked, although I did play some soccer with Becky. I’m pretty sure I won that. We just went back and forth, trying to get by each other to the other end of the yard. While we were doing that, Melissa and Kristin got ahold of my camera and took 26 pictures of themselves in different strange places. I have a feeling they took more though, and just deleted the bad ones. Well, the worst ones, that is. They have pictures of themselves knocking on the front door, ones with them standing by a garden gnome, and other such “amazing” pictures. The pictures Angelie and I took were much better, although I suppose I can tolerate…Continue Reading

Long Point!

Well, I’ve got a lot to talk about, so I might as well get started. I’ll begin with last night, since that’s first chronologically – yesterday obviously comes before today, in case you haven’t noticed. Wow. I’m a genius. Anyways, last night I headed over to Jessica’s house for the graduation party there. It really wasn’t all that great. Not many people were there, since some had already been there and gone, so it was basically some of the Grade 9s, Jael, and me. I played a bit of volleyball and badminton outside, but it was just so hot outside that I had to get indoors. Some of the people went to the pool, but considering how I have drowning tendencies, I decided to stay away from that.

Inside, I found Bas, Jon, Jessica, and Sarah watching The Road to El Dorado. It’s that cartoon animated movie (I think it’s Disney, isn’t it?). It wasn’t all that great, although I suppose it was good for a cartoon movie. During that, supper was prepared, and we had a nice feast of burgers, hot dogs, and various salads and such. After the movie was over, Jessica got her brother to set up the X-Box for us. I was kind of puzzled as to why he needed to set it up, since it’s really not that hard, but I soon found out that it hadn’t been used in ages, and the discs were pretty scratched up or something. So, he spent about five…Continue Reading

Party-Hoppin’

Last night was most certainly interesting. I went party-hopping to, well, two parties: one for Jael and Jessica, and another one for Mike. I don’t feel like writing too much today, so I’ll try and keep it short. Of course, I’ll likely end up rambling on about something, but we’ll see.

I headed off and picked up Steph, Jayson, and Melissa at the latter’s house, and then headed over to pick up Meagan over at her house. Then it was off to Paris. I had directions written out since I had no clue how to get there, but I didn’t even end up using them since other people in the car knew how to get there supposedly quicker. We got there without too much trouble, and then hung out there for a while. There was food, but I didn’t want any because I didn’t feel too well. I’m not sure whether it’s just been my allergies acting up lately or whether I actually have a cold. All I know is that I keep sneezing, and that my allergy medication either isn’t working or isn’t strong enough. Anyways, some of us played crokinole, and then we also played this strange game where there’s a piece of chocolate wrapped up in newspaper, and you go around the circle rolling a die. If you get a six, you have to put on winter gloves and a hat and use a fork and knife to rip away at the newspaper and eat the chocolate.…Continue Reading
