Gather ’round children, and let me tell you a story. Yes, that’s right, it’s story time. I’m going to tell you the story of last night (okay, that kind of ruined the excitement, now, didn’t it?). As I sit here sipping on my hot chocolate in the BCC mug that I got for graduation – the one that has the Aaron Award on it – I’ll just reflect a bit on the capers and exploits of last night.
It all started when Angelie and I were talking on MSN. We were both bored, so she suggested that we should get together with people and do something. She had to go to the graduation of Kristy’s brother, but afterwards, she said that both of them could hang out. So that basically left the job of figuring out what to do and who to do it with up to me. She told me just to phone the Staats, since “once you have the Staats, you have everyone.” So that’s what I did. I asked for Melissa at first, since I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and tell her about the waiver form for Wonderland at the same time as telling her to get people to hang out. However, she wasn’t home. So I talked to Josh instead and told him the situation. He said that Jeff was already there just hanging out, so people could come to their house. Then he said what I was hoping he’d say…Continue Reading
I’m really not sure what to say about today. Nothing interesting happened, but despite that, I was just in a really great mood. It’s pretty awesome, really. There was a slight incident after homeroom that kind of worried me or threatened to ruin my good mood, but thankfully, it was dealt with by lunchtime, and so it was of no consequence. I did my best to fix the situation; I can’t say I did much, but I at least tried. Anyways, that was my day – just great.
Last night was awesome as well. It was the first Praise Party thing, and I was really looking forward to it. I really thought it was going to be great, and it didn’t disappoint. Zeth played his acoustic guitar and we sang some worship songs, and then Pastor Rob did a little devotion on Hebrews 3:12-14 – “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.” He spoke a little about having a hardened heart, and also about helping others through their needs, being sensitive to the Lord’s leading. It really got me thinking; I mean, I know I’ve been doing a lot better at encouragement than I…Continue Reading
Many, many things have happened in the last little while. I can’t say much about today, because on the whole, it was quite average. We watched an episode of the Andy Griffith Show in Parenting class, but other than that, it was pretty normal. I was going to blog about a conversation that Melissa, Meagan, and I had on the bus after school today. But then Meagan said, “Yeah, you’ll probably go home and blog this or something.” And then I lost all interest in blogging it, just because she said that. But then, Melissa said, “Well, but now he probably won’t blog it just because you said that.” So then I got to thinking that maybe I would blog it, just because Melissa said that I wouldn’t. Then I thought, “Well, if I blog it, though, then Meagan will think she’s right. And if I don’t, then Melissa will think she’s right.” Then I just gave up all hope and stopped thinking, because my head hurt. So I suppose this is the best compromise I could come up with – I mentioned it in my blog, but I didn’t blog about the actual conversation, so neither of them are right. Besides, I really don’t remember what the conversation was anyways.
Last night was a little bit interesting. I told Angelie about what I was writing about yesterday, and she sympathized with me, so we got into a conversation that spun off of that topic. She told me a few…Continue Reading
Have you ever had a problem that you just felt helpless about, like you couldn’t fix? I’ve just encountered one to add to the other one I’ve had. And I’m not talking about a problem like cancer or death or turning the sky to green or anything like that. I’ve been there with both of the first two, and that’s a terrible situation, but this one deals with people. This problem I need to deal with has to do with people and relationships, and the ability for me to fix anything about it is dependent on the ability for me to communicate an important message to others so that it can produce a positive change. And I’m not the best at that. I’m a writer, not a public speaker. Oh, and by the way, by “relationships,” I don’t mean boyfriend-girlfriend crap, in case you were wondering. Don’t even go there.
I suppose the first thing I should be doing right now is praying. That’s more powerful than anything else I can do right now. But it deals with a group of people who may or may not even know the hurt they’re causing another person, and I need to deal with it. I need to, because if I don’t, it’s not going to get dealt with. And that scares me. I mean, it doesn’t directly involve me, but both parties are my friends, and thus it does involve me. If I saw some good I could do and didn’t do…Continue Reading
Today is Sunday, and normally I’d still be in bed, but my dad had to leave early, so we got up early and had breakfast with him. I just thought I’d throw that in. Last night was kind of strange. Jordan was trying to set up some practice, but Kyle was at the prom. So Kristin invited people to her house, and I went. In total, it was Kristin, Michelle, Angelie, Jordan, and myself. We got there and then spent about fifteen minutes figuring out what to do. No one really had any bright ideas. Michelle suggested mini-golf, but Kristin called and found out they were closing early because it was going to rain. What ended up happening was that we all got into my car and headed off to an unknown destination.
So about five minutes later, we stopped in at Wal-mart. I admit, it wasn’t much of an adventure, and we could have just walked there, but oh well. We went in and walked around until Angelie had to go pee (which was about thirty seconds), and then waited for about twenty minutes (or two) while she used the restroom, all the while discussing why it was called a “restroom” if you didn’t take a rest, or a “washroom” when that usually wasn’t the main purpose of your visit, or a “bathroom” when some didn’t even have bath tubs. It was a very intellectual conversation, let me tell you. I think we ended up deciding to change all…Continue Reading
Today was a little strange. Most of the day was alright, but what happened at lunch sort of threw things off a bit. It wasn’t so much the situation as it was the part of me that I’ve been trying to get rid of flaring up again. I got into a little argument with Steph about some things that went on at youth last night. The details really aren’t important; needless to say, though, it was a difference of opinion. Both of us tend to be quite opinionated, and thus we sometimes clash over stuff that later seems pretty stupid. I mean, I was a little ticked off just because of the fact that she always has her little opinion about youth and what should and shouldn’t be done, and then was telling me not to criticize and such, but the fact is she’s right. She could probably use a little of her own advice, but the fact remains that I really do criticize a lot.
I usually like to think of myself as pretty easy-going. It’s just stupid stuff that gets under my skin sometimes. I mean, with this situation, it wasn’t even that I thought what they did was bad, but rather I thought they could have done something better. Then, of course, two stubborn people get on opposite sides, and start arguing over something that really doesn’t matter. I should have just bit my tongue and ended it right before or soon after it started. I should…Continue Reading
Here we are. It’s yet another day, and I’m sure you were all waiting impatiently for me to update. I imagine that you were likely sitting in front of the computer with my blog on the screen, clicking Refresh over and over and over, just hoping that one of the times you clicked, something new would arrive. And now it has. Prepare for the blog of a lifetime. Or something like that. Try saying that in a deep movie voice-over voice, like on the trailers for movies. It has a better effect.
I suppose since people (who will not be named) were making fun of me last night and saying that I’d have something to blog about tomorrow, I might as well just give in and do just that. Besides, I was going to anyways. Last night was crazy. I went to go see a movie with a bunch of people: Angelie, Jordan, Josh, Kristin, Lauren, Melissa, Steph, and Zeth. We went to go see Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a movie I had been wanting to see – although I wasn’t the one to suggest it. I figured most people wouldn’t like it, so I wasn’t going to drag anyone along to see it with me. But, as it turns out, they decided to go see it. Well, Angelie, Jordan, and Lauren went to see Amityville Horror, since they’re weird that way, but whatever.
I must say that I thought the movie was great. Everyone else thought it sucked,…Continue Reading
