Food, Mini-Golf, and Food

I’m sitting in front of the computer here trying to think about how to start today’s entry. My mind’s drawing a blank as to how to begin – and I suppose it doesn’t help that I’m listening to one of my favourite songs, Paperthin Hymn by Anberlin. I’m slowly starting to become addicted to Anberlin, Dead Poetic, and a bit of Emery. Anyways, now that I’ve made a horrible introduction, I might as well just end this pointless paragraph and get right into describing last night and this morning.

Last night was fun. Mr. G took all three graduates out for dinner, as he does every year. We headed up to Elmira or St. Jacobs or something, and stopped in at Crossroads Restaurant. After about a half hour wait, we got in. I must say, it was worth the wait. We had the buffet, and it was amazing. There were sausages and sauerkraut, chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed baby carrots, various salads, a vegetable and rice stirfry, plus so much else. It was awesome – the food was delicious. I had about two-and-a-half platefuls, plus dessert on top of that. The desserts there were amazing as well – they had a whole bunch of various pies and cakes, as well as ice cream and apple dumplings and such. I had this pumpkin pie with whip cream on top, and it was delicious. Not just delicious – delicious. So anyways, we had a good time eating and talking there, and then after…Continue Reading

A Few Thoughts

Well, well, where should I start talking about today? There were quite a few things out of the ordinary. I found out today that people were expecting me to wash dishes again tonight, even though I had never told anyone that I was. They had mentioned it to me, and Jeff and Zeth said they had to check their work schedules, so they would get back to them. I never said anything to anyone, so I don’t think they should have just assumed that I could. Oh well, a simple misunderstanding, I suppose. Anyways, I had to go find Jeff’s phone number as soon as I got home and leave a message saying that I couldn’t go. It came out sounding horrible and abrupt – man, I hate answering machines. I try to say everything I need to as concisely as possible, but it always comes out sounding like I’m angry or nervous or something. I’d much rather write a nice email and get out my thoughts in written form. Oh well.

Today at lunch, Hendrik showed up. He’s back from Germany after being there for almost a year, and I’m sure Lana’s just jumping up and down for joy – or not. He came into the lunch room and Lana just kind of ignored him. His hair is a lot longer, and I was tempted to ask what kind of volumizing conditioner he uses, but I restrained myself. It just looked so…flowing. I doubt that he’d really appreciate me…Continue Reading

June Jam and Boy Bands

Music, Religion · · 2 comments

Well, the June Jam last night wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. It was a little strange; still not bad, but definitely different than what I anticipated. It was $5 to get in at the door, and then you got a coupon with a number in order to get prizes. I also got a door prize – a Napoleon Dynamite pin that says, “I see you’re drinking 1%.” I thought that was pretty cool. Anyways, we got in the auditorium, and then Pastor Rob welcomed us and stuff. They gave away all the prizes right at the beginning, though, which I thought was weird. If I were them, I would have given away some little ones at the beginning, then some more in the middle, and the big prizes (like the PlayStation 2 and the GameCube) right at the very end, so there was more anticipation. It was just anti-climactic giving them all away at the beginning. Oh well. Jordan won a “Vote for Pedro” t-shirt, which was cool.

After that, the band came up – I forget exactly what they were called; it was like Affirmative Display or something. They had a guitarist, a bass guitarist, a drummer, a saxophone player, and a violin player. It was really strange. I didn’t exactly like the violin – this guy was trying to do crazy solos on the thing, when it’d just be a whole lot easier to teach him to play guitar, and it’d sound a lot better too. Violins…Continue Reading

Strangeness

I don’t feel like writing too much today, so I’ll try and keep this short. I’m not sure why, but I’ve been in a really strange mood today. It’s not a bad mood, and I’m not mad or sad, but I just kept zoning out today for no apparent reason. I mean, I’m a little low on sleep, but I’ve been more alert on other days when I’ve had less sleep, so I don’t know why it’s worse today. I just couldn’t focus very well, and it’s annoying since the workload has piled up in the last little while. I’ve got several things to get done before the end of school, and not much time left to do them in. I brought several things home today to work on over the weekend, and that should take a big load off, but even that’s still not everything. But whatever. I’m not too worried or stressed out; I don’t get stressed out very easily anymore, but rather just sit back and force myself to relax. Sure, I feel the pressure to get things done, but that’s different than freaking out to do it all. I just don’t get that. It’s strange, but whatever. I don’t mind.

Over the past few weeks, and especially the past few days, I’ve been getting so many compliments from people. It’s strange really, although I understand why I’ve been getting them all. I know I’ve changed a lot, and I can see that positive change in myself.…Continue Reading

Party-Hoppin’

Last night was most certainly interesting. I went party-hopping to, well, two parties: one for Jael and Jessica, and another one for Mike. I don’t feel like writing too much today, so I’ll try and keep it short. Of course, I’ll likely end up rambling on about something, but we’ll see.

I headed off and picked up Steph, Jayson, and Melissa at the latter’s house, and then headed over to pick up Meagan over at her house. Then it was off to Paris. I had directions written out since I had no clue how to get there, but I didn’t even end up using them since other people in the car knew how to get there supposedly quicker. We got there without too much trouble, and then hung out there for a while. There was food, but I didn’t want any because I didn’t feel too well. I’m not sure whether it’s just been my allergies acting up lately or whether I actually have a cold. All I know is that I keep sneezing, and that my allergy medication either isn’t working or isn’t strong enough. Anyways, some of us played crokinole, and then we also played this strange game where there’s a piece of chocolate wrapped up in newspaper, and you go around the circle rolling a die. If you get a six, you have to put on winter gloves and a hat and use a fork and knife to rip away at the newspaper and eat the chocolate.…Continue Reading

Last Night’s Escapades

Today is Sunday, and normally I’d still be in bed, but my dad had to leave early, so we got up early and had breakfast with him. I just thought I’d throw that in. Last night was kind of strange. Jordan was trying to set up some practice, but Kyle was at the prom. So Kristin invited people to her house, and I went. In total, it was Kristin, Michelle, Angelie, Jordan, and myself. We got there and then spent about fifteen minutes figuring out what to do. No one really had any bright ideas. Michelle suggested mini-golf, but Kristin called and found out they were closing early because it was going to rain. What ended up happening was that we all got into my car and headed off to an unknown destination.

So about five minutes later, we stopped in at Wal-mart. I admit, it wasn’t much of an adventure, and we could have just walked there, but oh well. We went in and walked around until Angelie had to go pee (which was about thirty seconds), and then waited for about twenty minutes (or two) while she used the restroom, all the while discussing why it was called a “restroom” if you didn’t take a rest, or a “washroom” when that usually wasn’t the main purpose of your visit, or a “bathroom” when some didn’t even have bath tubs. It was a very intellectual conversation, let me tell you. I think we ended up deciding to change all…Continue Reading

A Bunch of Randomly Random Stuff

Music, Personal · · 2 comments

Restraining yourself from beating up someone or something is very hard. Right now I’d like to beat up Kyle for always scheduling practices with little or no warning – or rather, just calling practices for any time that he wants. It’s very frustrating. I mean, I had planned to get together with Lana and Beth to work on our sonnet for English at 6:00 PM, but now there’s apparently a practice tonight at 8:30 – one that I just found out about today when Bethany brought it up. So basically, I’ll be working on this sonnet for a couple hours and then driving over to the church. I guess it sort of works out since I’m going to the Tozers to work on it, so I can just take my bass along, then give Jordan a ride when it’s time to go, but still, I’d prefer some more advanced notice. But I suppose we need a practice to get ready for Sunday night; this coming Sunday is Pastor Dave’s farewell, although he isn’t really going anywhere. He’s just resigning, but he’s still staying at the church for the time being, anyway.

Anyways, other than that, it was a pretty average day. Steph and Melissa were away at CAASO Track and Field helping out or something, which was kind of annoying since I wanted to talk to them and sort some things out today. I mean, I knew they were going to that thing, but I had forgotten, so then when…Continue Reading
