Welcome to the new home of Disjointed Thinking!
In my previous post, I mentioned that I had created a new personal website for myself. Because this included buying some webspace of my own, I figured that it was a good idea to move my blog over as well. So, if you’ll notice at the top, the blog has a new web address. If you’ve previously bookmarked it, please update your bookmark to reflect the change.
In addition to the address change, I’ve also moved from Blogger to WordPress. This is a change that I am absolutely excited about. When I started my blog, I had never even heard of WordPress. It had apparently been created the year before, but I wasn’t aware of it. I chose Blogger because, well, I had heard of it. But since that time, WordPress has grown to become an amazing tool that, in my opinion, is far superior to Blogger. Don’t get me wrong; Blogger has gotten much better since the glory days soon after Google took it over. They’ve definitely added some nice features. However, I think WordPress still does a number of things right that Blogger does wrong. And so, since I was already moving the blog over, I figured I might as well change the program as well.
One more change, and likely the most noticeable, of course, is the layout. My blog was long overdue for a change in design, and now it has one. I’m pretty excited about that. However, due to all the changes, things are still under construction. In particular, the categories and tags are provisional at the moment. I have a long-term project to go back and tag the 600+ posts that I’ve accumulated, but that obviously takes some time (especially since I’m so long-winded). WordPress offers categories and tags, so I’ve taken some of the tags that obviously fit into a certain category (like “God” with “Religion”) and paired them up. But I haven’t gone back and read all those posts to make sure that they fit in the category. So, all the categories and tags are provisional for the time being; some of them will fit, and some of them will not, and the majority of posts aren’t even categorized using either scheme. Please be patient while I work out some of the kinks.
At any rate, I hope that you all enjoy the new layout. Feel free to leave any feedback you might have in the comments. Thanks!
