Well, I haven’t been able to get onto my blog over the past couple of days, so I’m trying a new approach. There’s a way to email in blog entries so that they’ll update the site automatically. I’ve never tried it before, but I am now. Woohoo! Hooray for trying new things!
Anyways, since the last entry on Friday, there are two main things that I need to talk about. The first thing, is, of course, exams. I wrote my Physics exam yesterday, and I finished off the set with my Geometry exam today. The Physics one wasn’t too bad; it was kind of long, but I suppose exams are supposed to be long. It was basically just a big test, which is good, since some teachers have the idea that exams have to be seven times as hard as any other test. I was finished with perhaps five minutes to spare. After that, I met up with Angelie, and we went over to her house to study math. Actually, we spent very little time studying, but whatever. We went to Wendy’s for lunch, then went over to BCC to settle once and for all whether Jordan’s Honda is puke green or turquoise (which, incidentally, still hasn’t been settled, since she knows I’m right and won’t admit it), then studied for an hour or two. After that, we decided to take a break and went over to the Staats’ house. Melissa had promised me a cookie, so we went…Continue Reading
Well, one exam down, two more to go. I woke up bright and early this morning, and then got dressed and drove my mom to work so that I could have the car. I then came back home and studied for a little bit, and then drove to school. About ten minutes before the exam started, I went into the classroom and got my seat. Then the bell rang, and I started writing.
Now, I’ve never experienced a “Scantron” exam before today, but let me explain it to you. Basically, there were about twenty-three multiple choice questions at the beginning of the exam. Both the question and the options were on the exam paper, and then we also received a thin piece of paper along with it that was the “Scantron” paper. So, in addition to circling the correct answer on the exam paper, we also had to colour in the appropriate rectangle on the Scantron paper. This paper would then be fed into some sort of machine, which would mark them. Now, I suppose it would make marking the test quite a bit easier, but honestly: how lazy are these teachers if they can’t mark twenty multiple choice questions? I mean, those are the easiest kind to mark, because all you have to do is look down the page and mark which ones are right. There’s no thinking required at all in the first place. So why this Scantron thing is needed is beyond me.
But anyways, besides the…Continue Reading
Today has been basically a waste of a day. Since I don’t have an exam today, I’ve basically lounged around, doing nothing. My aunt woke me up at about 9:00 AM with her phone call, and since I figured that I likely wouldn’t get back to sleep, I just decided to get up then. I showered and got dressed, and then tried to study for my upcoming Chemistry exam. That didn’t work out too well. I mean, the past three or four Chemistry classes have been devoted to reviewing for the exam anyways, so I feel that I could recite the information in my sleep. So, instead, I’ve been sitting in front of the TV and watching the special features of X-Men 2. Why? Well, why not? I was bored, and I suppose it’s a lot better than running around town and getting into trouble. Not that I would really do anything like that, but still – I figured it was more interesting than sitting in front of a blank TV. I’m not sure why I would do that either, but I suppose I could if I really wanted to.
I haven’t really mentioned it, although I did in the comments to yesterday’s post, but I’ve had significant problems getting my watch to work. Melissa gave it to me for my birthday, and it’s a nice watch, so I’d quite like to wear it, but whenever I do so, it always stops eventually. Yesterday, I wore it to school, and…Continue Reading
I think it’s safe to say that I’m just getting way too many gift certificates. When Ron told me that he had sent my name off to the district office for employee of the month, he gave me a Wal-Mart and a Future Shop gift certificate. A week or so later, I found a $10 gift certificate for a whole bunch of grocery stores on the floor of one of the theatres. No one came back for it – not like I expected them to – so I put it in my wallet and claimed it on the basis of the “finders-keepers” rule. Last night I went into Zehrs and bought some gum with it – and yes, it was the full $10. I also went in to work to get my schedule for next week, and while in there, Ron told me that I had actually received employee of the month. He then proceeded to give me three $5 gift certificates for Roots. So now, over the past couple of weeks, I’ve received a total of $35 in gift cards for stores. I feel like it’s my birthday or something.
Apart from going and getting my work schedule, not much was done last night. I did some homework, but that was about the extent of my excitement. Today was just as interesting – basically just three classes of review for exams. Fortunately, I get tomorrow off, since I don’t have a first period class to have an exam for,…Continue Reading
Last night was…interesting. I went to the church for about 6:00 PM, and we had a band practice. We also tried to get this new recording software hooked up and working, and so we recorded ourselves once. And it sounded horrible. But since it was our first time, and with a new song, and we were barely able to hear ourselves in the monitors, I don’t think it was too bad. At least with the recording, we’ll be able to figure out what we need to improve on, and also figure out how this new song actually goes.
At 8:00, Julie showed up, and so we started into worship practice for Sunday. I can’t say that it was very productive. There just wasn’t any organization, and so we didn’t really get much done. We practiced a few songs, but then John Mark, our new sound guy, kept interrupting with suggestions. I mean, they were good suggestions, because he knows what he’s doing, but at the same time, it really hampered our efforts to figure out what songs we were doing and in what order. Then Zac’s dad showed up at about 10:00, so that pretty much ended the practice. Anyways, we’re going to practice again on Saturday, and hopefully we’ll have a song order by that time, so things will go more smoothly.
That’s really all I have to say for today. We had our candy machine challenge in Physics class today. Mine almost worked – but didn’t. That was…Continue Reading
I don’t have much time to write today, but I’ll try to quickly summarize a few things. First off, last night went alright. There were a lot of people there for Life Groups – probably about 15, which is quite a few more than usual – but they said what I spoke about was good. I can’t say I’d say the same; I said what I wrote down, but it just didn’t seem very…I don’t know, it sounded better in my head, I suppose. Anyways, it’s over now, and I hope it at least gave people something to think about. Hopefully God will use what I said, no matter how badly I spoke it, and do something cool.
Today was pretty normal, but I’ve really been feeling the whole crunch-time thing before exams start. I woke up a bit early this morning to work on my Physics project, but I fear that despite my best efforts, it’s just not going to work. So I eventually gave up on that. I’ll do what I can, but past that, I’m just not going to rebuild the whole thing the night before it’s due just to try and make it work.
I guess that’s all I really have time to write about. I voted today, so that was kind of cool. Tonight I have a band practice, and then a worship practice. It’ll sure be interesting going from screaming to praising God. But hey – God cares about the heart, right? But yeah,…Continue Reading
Last night was…interesting. Jordan called me up and asked if I wanted to do something, and I said sure. I had basically just gotten off a six-hour shift, but I decided that I was up for something. I was still bummed out by the fact that we weren’t having a band practice, actually. So he called me back and told me that people were going to be going to Kristin’s house, and then we might go and rent a movie or something. That was cool with me, so I went over there at about 8:00 PM. Once people got there, we started to look at the movies that she had at her house, and then we decided that we didn’t really want to watch a movie after all. I was basically up for anything, so Kristin suggested playing Survivor: The Board Game instead (I don’t know if that’s what it’s really called, but it’s based on the Survivor TV series, so whatever). So we played that, and Jordan won in the end – because he backstabbed me and broke our alliance. No, I’m not bitter at all. Hah, I ended up voting for him in the end anyways, and explained later that I decided to still honour our alliance, even though he hadn’t. Whatever. I just liked being the honourable one, really. Afterwards, we went to Tim Hortons for a while, then I drove Kristin, Erica, and Melissa home. I then drove home myself. Voila. That was last night in…Continue Reading
