Sunburn and Poker Games

I am not doing so good today. Last night I had another hard night trying to get to sleep because of my sunburn, and then I had to get up early to play bass for church today. On top of my tiredness, I feel like I’m being attacked by body lice or something because of the sunburn. I’ve had an itchy spot on my back all morning, and no matter how many times I scratch it, it won’t go away. It feels like it’s underneath the surface or something, because when I put pressure on the spot, it feels a lot better, but if I just scratch it, it does nothing. It’s really, really, really, really bugging me. And it’s taking me a long time just to write this paragraph because I keep having to push on my back to try to just get rid of the stupid itch.

Anyways, on a slightly more optimistic note, I had a good time last night. After staying in my empty house all day, I was going crazy. I didn’t want people over to my house to have a party, I wanted to get out of it and go somewhere else. So anyways, in the afternoon, my sister called me up from the Tozer’s house and asked if I wanted to come over for supper. She figured that since my parents weren’t home, I’d have nothing to eat, whereas she had tons of food there, more than she could eat. That sounded like a pretty good idea to me; I wasn’t keen on having to see my sister, but food always was an effective bribing tactic for me.

Before I went over for food, though, I decided that I wanted to do something. I thought maybe of getting a few people together and going to see a movie or something. So I called up the Staats’ house, since they’re always good at getting people together. I’m really not sure what it is about them, but they just are. I was talking to Zeth, and he said that he was busy doing nothing at his house, and wouldn’t mind doing something, so he suggested that I should come over there so we could do nothing together. It sounded like a good idea to me, so I told him I’d be over after I got food. I headed over to the Tozer’s house and ate some pizza, then my sister convinced me to drive her back to our house so she could iron her shirt for tomorrow, since she couldn’t find the Tozer’s iron. So there I was, driving up and down Dunsdon St. Once to the Tozer’s, another time back home, yet another time back to the Tozer’s, and then back one more time to get to the Staats’ house. I really just don’t like that street.

Anyways, I got to the house, and then Zeth and I headed downstairs to play some Halo. He killed me both times, but I don’t think I did too bad considering that I didn’t know the second map at all, and he won 40-10. I mean, it’s still pretty bad, but he had the map basically memorized and I had never seen it before. Anyways, we stopped after 40 because Kristy was there, and she’s sort of his girlfriend and all. Melissa got home from work soon after that, and then we decided that we wanted to play poker. Mrs. Staats convinced us to go play basketball at the park for a while, though, so we headed over there with the other two Staats sisters in tow. We played for a little bit, but eventually the girls basically gave up, so it was just Zeth and me playing. We went back to their house and got out Zeth’s cool poker set, but Kristy didn’t want to play, so it was just Zeth, Melissa, and me playing. It wasn’t that exciting. I lost horribly because I couldn’t think straight, Melissa got lucky with some good hands, and ended up winning, and Zeth basically gave up. It was funny to watch them taking it so seriously, though.

After playing poker and losing, we went to see what the others were watching on TV. They had found Topgun on the Family channel and were watching it. I’ve never seen that movie before, but it really didn’t seem that amazing to me. I suppose I should have seen the beginning, or possibly the ending, and it might have been better, but oh well. I left at about 10:30 PM because I knew I had to get up early this morning, so I got home to my still-empty house and was just getting ready to go to bed when my parents got home. I talked to them for a few minutes, then slowly backed away so I could get some sleep.

I guess that’s all I have to say for today. My mom wants on the computer, so I have to finish this off. I could say something profound here, but I won’t. Well, okay, I will. Grass is usually green, except when it’s dead. That’s about as deep as I get today. That’s all. Have a good day.
