Good Friday

Well, today is Good Friday. My family went over to New Covenant for the Good Friday service, and later on we’ll be going to the Tozers’ house for dinner. That should be pretty good. Anyways, I’m still not in too much of a talking mood, so that’s all I’ll say about that. Obviously I could go on and on about what Christ did for me, remembered on this day, but as I’ve written about it in school and thought about it many times, I really don’t feel like writing it out all over again. Needless to say, though, I’m thankful. Sometimes I wish I’d remember this sort of thing all year round, rather than only at Easter-time. It just doesn’t really seem real the rest of the time. ‘Tis a challenge, to be sure.

I’ve been playing a game I found online called Cybertrek for the past few days. It’s a puzzle game involving several different approaches to solving riddles. A lot of the puzzles are math-based, but which can only really be solved using a programming language of some sort. They provide a free demo of their SiMPLE codebase, but I didn’t feel like downloading and learning a new language just for a game. I’d much rather use PHP, a language which I already know and which functions very similarly anyway. But anyways, a lot of the riddles have to do with prime numbers and perfect squares, which makes for a challenge. So far I’ve been successful with those.…Continue Reading

Happenings of National Concern

Today was a day. Take a moment and reread the previous sentence to let its full profound meaning sink in. Not much happened. Tomorrow’s Good Friday. In English today, we wrote a letter to God, thanking Him for what He did during this time. I didn’t really feel like writing, but I definitely filled up the page on that one.

In other news, my sister’s home for Easter. Yesterday was her birthday, and I suspect that we’ll likely be going out for supper tonight to celebrate. Yay. I’m excited. (Caution: Extreme sarcasm in effect. Do not operate heavy machinery.) I was basically forced by my parents to buy her a present, so while I was out buying my mp3 player, I found the Bourne Supremacy DVD. I find it’s always easier to spend a little more money than you’d usually spend when you’re buying something expensive already. And at least it’s a DVD that I won’t mind watching – it’s an awesome movie.

That’s all I want to say. I’m not in the mood for writing right now. Bacon rocks. Over and out.…

The Mountain Climb

As I sit here, I’m at a loss for words about what to say today. School was average, nothing exciting or interesting happened today, and I have no major issues or concerns to talk about. Everything’s just at a precarious balance right now, I suppose. Everyone seemed to generally be in a good mood today, with a few individual exceptions, but the mood of the classroom was fairly cheerful. We were all just joking around and laughing, something which doesn’t always happen, but perhaps it has something to do with spring coming along. Then again, when I went outside after school to catch the bus, it was snowing and windy. That wasn’t very fun. But I’m still glad that spring is on its way and I can finally get out of my winter coat – or at least, I will be able to soon, once I can be sure that it’s not suddenly going to snow like today.

I’m feeling better about this whole North Park thing for the most part. Last night I got reminded that I can get my full G license in June, and I had completely forgotten about that. I’m going to have to book that sometime soon, but my sole focus has been school for next year, so it hadn’t even crossed my mind. I can’t say that I’m too eager to do a test like that, considering that June is when I’m supposed to enroll for North Park, and I’m going to be trying…Continue Reading

Biology, Choices, Patience

Today was pretty good. While nothing really interesting happened, nothing bad happened either, so it was tolerable. On Jeff’s Day-o-Meter, it would get a 6 out of 10. But considering that the Day-o-Meter doesn’t exist, I’m not quite sure what that means.

Last night I was talking to Lana on MSN and she was telling me that we had a Biology test on Unit 2 the next day (today). While I knew that it was coming up, it had originally been scheduled for the Friday before March Break. When we had to go back to the basketball tournament the second time, it got postponed, and no one knew when it was postponed until. So Lana asked Mrs. Houtman yesterday right after school and apparently the test was happening tomorrow. Needless to say, none of the Grade 12s were very happy, but considering it got pushed off for an entire week, we really had nothing to complain about other than the fact that we didn’t have a definitive date for when it was to take place.

Anyways, Lana then proceeded to tell me that she knew almost nothing about what we had been talking about for the past three months in Biology. The first thing I asked was, “Well then why weren’t you asking questions during all those classes? Why leave it until the day before the exam?” Anyways, she got on her knees and begged me to help her – maybe not quite that drastic, since I don’t know whether…Continue Reading

Car Rides, Movies, and Nose-Blowing

Wow, what a night it was last night, and what a day it was today. I wouldn’t say it was crazy, but it was definitely getting up there. Last night after youth, people decided to go over to Nathan’s house. Don’t worry – he and his parents were fine with it, we made sure of that first. So since I had my car there, I had to get directions to his house and drive Jordan, Bethany, Angelie, and Anita to the house. That was crazy, let me tell you. That is the most people I’ve ever driven around at once. I mean, it really doesn’t sound like much, but I’ve never done it before. The most I’ve ever driven around (besides family) is two people, so to have a full car was something new. This whole driving my friends around is completely new to me. I mean, it only started about a week or two ago when Vince and I went to a movie and my dad actually let me pick him up and drive him. Before then I was never allowed to drive anyone else in the car (although I must admit that I did anyways sometimes).

So that was interesting. I remember getting out of the car after I parked (first time parallel parking since my G2 road test, although I just basically pulled up behind a car, so it wasn’t too hard) and thinking, “Wow. This is awesome! I love driving my friends around!” We went inside…Continue Reading

Shuffle to the Left, Shuffle to the Right

There’s not much to say today. All my big news was yesterday. I’ve been fiddling around a bit with my mp3 player, and I think I’ve got it set up the way I want now. It’s working pretty well, and I know it will make it a lot easier for the ride home from school on the bus. It’ll be especially handy if I ever miss the transfer at the mall; then I can just walk home with music all the way there. It also won’t ever skip, which is great, because my discman was getting horrible with anti-skip. It used to work fine, but lately I’ve been having troubles with it skipping, especially on the bumpy bus rides. Even sometimes while walking, it would skip, which shouldn’t really happen.

But oh well. I’ve got my mp3 player now, so that won’t be happening anymore. I also have space for about three and a half CDs on there, which works out to roughly 50 tracks depending on the filesize of each track. The great thing that I found out is that I can put all my music in separate folders, but the shuffle feature can skip between all the folders or just inside one folder. So if I want to just hear one CD, I can limit it to one folder, whereas if I’m in an adventurous mood, I can make it shuffle between all the folders (wow, what an adventure!). It’s going to work great, let me tell you.…Continue Reading

Woohoo! I’m the proud new owner of a Creative MuVo 256 MB Mp3 Player! I just went out to Future Shop today and bought one, and I must say that it’s pretty slick and nifty. It’s also pretty nick and slifty. It’s got room for about 50 songs, which is pretty cool. I’m sure it will work just fine for me, and I’ve got a 30-day trial period just in case it doesn’t. That little black part on it actually separates from the rest of the player and is the part that is plugged into the computer with a USB port. That’s a pretty cool feature since it means that there are no wires to deal with – not that that’s really too much of a problem, but still, it’s less of a hassle.

Jordan stayed over at my house last night because Stephanie, Angelie, and Anita were sleeping over at his house with Bethany. They went to see a Starfield concert and such, and then came back to his house. He had good reason to avoid that whole clan, but even more so since Angelie wasn’t going to be allowed to come if Jordan was there. Her parents are a bit protective, but likely wise in the way they handle things – although sometimes I doubt she thinks that. Anyway, he and I talked to people on MSN and ate bread with peanut butter until about 2:30 or 3:00 AM and then went to sleep on the two…Continue Reading
